Winter Road Safety Tips
Our roads become far more dangerous in winter due to slippery roads, fog and unpredictable weather.
There are many things you can do to ensure you have a happy and safe trip on the road this winter.
- Ensure your windscreen wipers are working effectively. If your blades are leaving tracks across your windscreen or not working like they used to; your wiper rubbers will need replacing.
- Have your shock absorbers checked. Faulty shock absorbers can cause bald spots around the tread of the tyre, which means water will not be dispersed as effectively, and could cause a serious accident.
- Check your headlights and brake lights are all working. With reduced visibility due to lack of daylight or weather conditions, it is even more so important to ensure your cars visibility, not only for your own benefit when driving, but to make certain that other drivers can see your car!
- Ensure your cars demister and air-conditioning system works. With frost and fog prominent in the morning, it’s important to make sure your demister is working properly, otherwise you’ll find yourself driving with frosted over windows.
